Here is a Chinese translation of my 1996 article “Economic Calculation and the Limits of Organization,” one of my favorites. It appears in Comparative Economic and Social Systems 116, no. 6 (2004): 70-78. The journal is edited by Wu Jinglian, an important Chinese economist specializing in economic reform. (Thanks to Chenhua Li for the translation and Kuo-Yang Tang for background information.)

There is a certain poetry here that is lacking in the English version…

The journal is also well known in China. But the Chinese translation of the abstract was not good enough, especially the second sentence. The English version may be easy to understand.

Some people have a way with words, while other people …… not have way.

A theologian friend once told me of his occasional difficulties in understanding English translations of Karl Rahner. He asked a German colleague if Rahner was easier to comprehend in his native language–and learned that Germans usually found French translations of Rahner to be most understandable. So I guess if there are enough translations of your works then somebody somewhere will understand one of them . . .
