My favorite passage from the fourth item in your list, the article by Brembs et al. (2013): “Much like dowsing, homeopathy or astrology, journal rank seems to appeal to subjective impressions of certain effects, but these effects disappear as soon as they are subjected to scientific scrutiny.” Now, for the most part, the article discusses research in the natural sciences, what do you think is the situation in the social sciences?
